The Garland Tassel

Walking around NY, I've noticed these lovely decorations in boutique windows. They sparkle, glow and are truly an eye catching display. I went home, did some research on the Internet and found these festive garlands have evolved from parties and weddings to apartment decor.

I adore this color palate

They range in all shapes and sizes. Whether it's fabric or tissue paper, the garland tassel makes a fabulous decoration for in and outdoors.

Fabulous for parties

Confetti System make some gorgeous tassels that are custom made from NYC for $130. I love these festive tassels. They add fun and flare to any setting, especially with a variety of colors.

Perfect for NYE

I was truly inspired. So, with some left over yellow napkins, I decided to make my own. I admit I am quite a beginner and in the future I want to use more colors (especially metallics) and use different material that will really sparkle. Napkins were a great substitute.
Folding the napkin in half, I cut even trips form beginning to end,  leaving 1/2 inch at the top uncut.

By opening the napkin I started to roll the center, leaving the cut strips on each side.

I then folded the napkin in half and tied the top with a piece of tape to hold in place.
I tied these garlands to a wall decor piece I bought from West Elm.

I even added a few 4x6 pictures  using mini clothes pins.

VoilĂ ! Finished proof. These were fun and super easy to make. I recommend checking out Etsy,  pinterest and other blogs to find more garland ideas.
